Hair Shampooing For Various Hair Types

Hair shampoo is used to wash, cleanse, and remove the dirt/impurities from the scalp and hair. Some types of hair shampoos are considered aggressive and sweep away the dirt, as well as the hair’s protective sebum.

Shampoos are made of a variety of formulas depending on the type of hair. So its’ essential to know, which type of hair shampoo is ideal for a person.

Shampoo and Suitability

A good shampoo rids the hair of dirt and oil. There are two main types of shampoos, namely clarifying shampoos and cleansing shampoos. A clarifying shampoo is a deep-penetrating moisturizing shampoo with a cream base, and is specifically formulated to nourish the dry, permed/color treated hair.

A cleansing shampoo that includes mint extracts is ideally meant for moisturizing the oily and dry hair to give it a frizz and condition. A good shampoo rinses not only the oily head skin and dry hair, but also as per the individual’s needs. By feeling the hair from roots to tips, you can determine its type and makes the process of choosing a shampoo easy.

Shampoos made of quality ingredients are best for providing quality hair care. These shampoos contain the right combination of vitamins, minerals, and proteins to give the hair a healthy look. When shopping for shampoo, visit a few salons and keep in mind their recommendations when buying the products for the best hair care.

Types of Shampoos

Several varieties of shampoos’ are available; dry shampoos that brush on and brush out from the hair, are at best a stopgap arrangement. Baby shampoos are meant for babies only, and are not suitable for adults.

Shampoos for color-treated hair are rich in moisturizers and protein, which helps to return the water to the hair roots. Care should be taken while buying them, to see that they are low in alkalinity, and they don’t have sulphated castor oil as that can strip the hair color.

Daily use shampoos are very gentle, and have least amount of cleansers and conditioners. These can’t be used to remove styling products.

Shampooing the Hair

Before a head bath, brush the hair to de-tangle it before shampooing. This way hair breakage and hair loss can be prevented. Use warm water while shampooing, as it effectively cleanses.

Pour shampoo according to hair length on the wet hair. A dime sized shampoo drop is enough for short hair, medium sized hair needs a nickel sized shampoo drop; while long hair needs more; but do remember to comb the hair with fingers during shampooing.

Massage the hair for 3-minutes slowly in circular motions. Apply a suitable conditioner for the hair type you have; and rinse it as per your hair health. Just blot the wet hair with a towel, through the length of the hair, also try to avoid blow-drying.
